The second-hand market of machine tools offers a variety of quality vertical machining centers. However, the used vertical machining centers s have to be thoroughly checked to guarantee a level of efficiency comparable to that of the new. Many companies are known for their mastery of the manufacturing of vertical machining centers; the major manufacturers are ALMAC, Brother, Bumotec, Eumach, FAMUP, FADAL, FANUC, Fehlmann, Kira, Lieder, Matec, Mazak, Mikron, Primacon, Realmeca, Spinner, STAMA, Topper, Willemin Macodel, Witech, SCM, Diversified Machine Systems, Toyoda, CB Ferrari, AXA Maschinenbau, Bertsche, Emmegi Group, Haas Automation, Fom Industrie, Emag, EMCO, Mecanumeric, DMG Mori, Makino, Okuma, Sodick, Chiron, Agie Charmilles, Hurco, Hardinge... The machining center allows, on a single machine, realizing different types of machining works: drilling, turning, boring, milling... Integrating, in most cases, a digital control which helps the operator to choose the cutting tools and to sequence machining operations, machining center thus proves even more effective, especially when it comes to processing heavy, large or complex workpieces. The basic principle of a vertical machining center operation is simple: the machining head is simultaneously set in motion around the workpiece and on at least three axes. The machining centers can be fixed or mobile column; in the case of a mobile column, the column can slide towards the left or the right according to the machining to be realized on the workpiece. The sphere of application of the vertical machining center also includes PVC and aluminium joinery, aluminium sections, aluminium sheets, composite panels, moulds and dies, glasswork, woodwork, plastic arts and composite, graphite machining, and the manufacturing of PVC joinery sections.
