The German company Walter Maschinenbau GmbH was founded in 1917 in Düsseldorf by Richard Walter. It was then called Walter Montanwerke. After buying a workshop in Tübingen, Walter Montanwerke began producing metal tools in both plants. The company then transferred its headquarters on the site of Tübingen and specializes in the manufacturing of mills. In 1953, Walter develops and launches the first worldwide fully automated model of tool grinding machine . Now with its status of a pioneer and an ever exploiting of the most advanced technologies company, Walter launches, since 1977, the first CNC tool grinding machine worldwide. It is the Helitronic 20 NC/LIP2 model. Walter Montanwerke becomes Walter AG in 1990 to become a limited company. In 2004, Körber Schleifring GmbH which belongs to the Körber AG group acquired the machine tools activity of Walter AG company. This alliance is now called Walter Maschinenbau GmbH. Walter Maschinenbau GmbH manufactures a wide range of CNC sharpeningmachines dedicated to grinding, gear cutting by electroerosion of metal tools, polycrystalline diamond (PCD), as well as symmetrical tour workpieces. The German company also designs CNC measuring machines.
