The washing machines are industrial equipment specifically designed for the cleaning of workpieces between the different machining stages. Used in both steel and mechanical industries, the washing machine operates using a solvent classified into 3 categories: Chlorine products which are less used because they do not comply with legislation development, Class A3 oil products and modified alcohols, Aqueous products. The washing of workpieces can be done either by immersion or by spraying. The immersion washing machines are equipped with one or more tanks in which the workpieces to be cleaned are plunged. The ultrasonic action may also be associated to that of the solvent. Concerning spray washing machines, they have long been considered less advantageous systems because of their size and their lack of efficiency. But these machines have undergone multiple advanced (centering devices, high pressure oriented jets, reduction of residues to evacuate...), thus becoming efficient and performing equipment. One of the main features is the conveyor system that embarks the workpieces into a washing tunnel, inside which solvent jets are applied on the workpieces. Recommended for large workpieces, spray washing machines are valued for their low solvent consumption. The washing machine category also includes distillation machines, such as those manufactured by MEGTEC Systems and Pope Scientific. Distillation is a recycling process used to purify the solvent and thus maintain cleanliness in order to guarantee an efficient reuse.
