Doosan
A large South Korean group founded in 1896, Doosan is one of the oldest companies in the country. The origin of what is today one of the world's largest conglomerates is a store open since more than a century by Park Seung-Jik, who offered all kinds of products, including the Pakgabun cosmetic powder extremely popular with Korean ladies in the 1920s. Doosan progressively varied its activities, turning towards fields like power generation, desalination, construction materials, metallurgy, and handling equipment, as and when the acquisitions by the Seoul company of specialized companies in these disciplines. Doosan has also developed branches dedicated to the brewing, trade, agriculture, and, more recently, communications. With regard to the manufacturing of machine tools, the beginnings of Doosan dates back to the establishment of Doosan Infracore in 1976. Contributing actively to the development of national industrial infrastructure, this division of the South Korean group experienced an exponential development and productivity, reaching 1000 production units in 1979, 10.000 in 1990 and 50.000 in 2000. Having acquired ISO 9001, IQRS, and ISO 14000 certifications, the section dedicated to the machine tools in Doosan follows a strategy based on technological investment, innovation and continuous research of the highest quality level. DoosanInfracore can thus rely on the most important research and development center of South Korea, opened in 2008, to consolidate its position in the global market. Its horizontal machining centers of the HM range are reference machines, both on the new and the second-hand market. This range offers machines allow heavy machining operations using box-type guideway, reducing the time of specific cutting by reducing tools transfer time and high speed in fast forward. The catalog Doosan also includes CNC lathes, turning/milling centers, vertical machining center, CNC vertical lathes, CNC swiss-type lathe. Second-hand machines are available on the European market and meet EC standards.
